Fair Play Playground
The Fair Play Playground on the Grace Center campus is an inclusive playground. It was designed to include the principles of inclusive play: be fair; be included; be independent; be safe; be active; and be comfortable.
- This playground intends to be accessible to children with varying sensory or physical abilities, so that children of all abilities and needs are welcome and can play together, side by side.
- The equipment includes ramps and surfaces for access, a supportive swing, a double slide, quiet spaces, and sensory play.
- The playground is used by students of New City School on school days, and welcomes the community after school hours, evenings, and weekends.
- Funding for the playground included generous donations by the Lions Club of NE Minneapolis, a Hennepin County Youth Sports grant, the Italian American Club, LaMere Concrete & Construction, Marshall Concrete, and community members.
- Assembly of the playground equipment included a combination of skilled volunteers (many from the NE Lions Club) and community members, guided by a supervisor.
